"Life Skills for Cancer Survivors"
a free course
A course to assist those who have been through an extreme experience in their lives to recover their sense of self and re-engage with life. The course will be of benefit to those people who are struggling to deal with the many issues that arise in the aftermath of cancer
An area of particular difficulty for cancer survivors is that such a huge trauma in one’s life can put one on a new path because of the enormous changes experienced. These huge changes can lead to a gap in understanding, so that the impact of cancer on personal relationships is profound
The course will cover personal, relationship and workplace issues
Redefining self - relationships - vocation
2.5 hours per week for 6 weeks
+ 1 day workshop

Adjusting to changing relationships Intimate relations friends family Effective communication

The course is conducted by Life Force Foundation counsellor and group leader Denise Lavell.
One of the added strengths of the course is the presence of clinical psychologist Michael Parle and psychiatrist Mark Ryan of the Sydney Psychological Medicine Group as guest speakers on communication and relationship issues and aspects of coping with stress and dealing with worries. In addition art therapist Fiona Fitzpatrick will conduct a one day workshop.
