Facing Death... Embracing Life

a workshop

In this two day workshop we explore our feelings about life and death. The aim of the workshop is to enable us to confront our own mortality and come to terms with the inevitability of death for us all, and in the process, liberate us to live life more fully in the present.

This experiential workshop gives us the opportunity to share and learn much from each other, as we face together the great mystery. . . the meaning of life connected inextricably to the meaning of death.

This workshop is of benefit to all those who work in the healing professions, to people with life-threatening illnesses, or simply to all those wishing to explore the spiritual dimension of living and dying.

Talking about Cancer

A WORKSHOP FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

This two day workshop is for Health Professionals to explore this area of health care and discover a new approach in relating , which can help them feel more confident in dealing with the difficult and delicate issues that arise in the course of their work. The workshop will be experiential in nature giving participants an opportunity to explore their own feelings and in the process gain valuable insights and skills which will enable them to meet the emotional needs of cancer patients and their families in the most effective and meaningful way.

Support Group Facilitators Workshop

This is a three day training program for support group facilitators. The program will enable participants to feel confident in conducting and leading a support group which aims to help people deal with the experience of a life threatening illness in the best possible way, improving quality of life.

The program will cover expressive - supportive group therapy and the role of the group leader in a psycho - social support group setting.

The Foundation has successfully lead support groups for cancer patients and their families for the past twelve years and wishes to impart the benefits of the Life Force Foundation philosophy and approach.

Based on the LFF approach to support group therapy, this experiential workshop will assist participants to create an environment which:

• Provides emotional and social support, encouraging expression of feelings in a safe and caring atmosphere.

• Develops personal skills and strategies for coping with the associated stress and anxiety of the condition and treatment, restoring confidence and enhancing quality of life.

• Assists patients to gain the maximum benefit from their treatment regimens, by promoting communication and co-operation between patients and health care providers.

The Program will cover

• The role and responsibilities of group leaders.

• Creating a safe and supportive environment.

• Effective communication.

• Dealing with fears.

• Dealing with big feelings.

• Finding new meaning in life.

• Lifting the spirits.

• Fostering a relaxed and peaceful state of mind.

• Care of the self.

Prerequisite

People with previous counselling training would benefit from this workshop.
